The Heart Behind the Name

Chin Girls Productions is a wink to the childhood of principal Rachel Quan, who grew up surrounded by the powerhouse women of the Chin family—her grandmother, mother, sister and two legendary aunts (who taught her how to cook)—each one shaping her grit, resilience, and “let’s‑figure‑this‑out” spirit.

Ironically, Rachel and her sister ended up in parallel careers across different industries, both directing and orchestrating large‑scale productions like it was coded into their DNA. Chin Girls Productions is her way of carrying their legacy forward—with creativity, heart, and a little bit of mischief.

About Rachel

Rachel Quan is a veteran live events executive and producer with more than two decades of experience delivering large‑scale, high‑visibility productions across professional sports, major festivals, corporate conferences, and national nonprofit events. 01Nonprofit Beginnings & SBHH

Rachel began her live events career in the nonprofit sector, quickly rising to lead one of the largest festivals her organization had ever produced. She soon moved into a national role overseeing festivals across the country, building a foundation in large‑scale logistics, creative direction, and team leadership. Her work later expanded through SBHH, the event management and production company she cofounded, where she led complex concerts, conferences, stadium events, and major outdoor festivals.

02The Final Four Years

Her entry into sports came through the NCAA Men's Final Four, serving as Vice President of External Operations for Houston's Local Organizing Committee during the 2011, 2016, and 2023 championships. She directed marketing, communications, public relations, ancillary events, and community engagement—helping position the Final Four as both a national spectacle and a meaningful local celebration. The NCAA also tapped her to oversee event marketing and branding for the 2018 Final Four in San Antonio and the 2022 Final Four in New Orleans, giving her experience from both host‑city and NCAA perspectives.

After selling her ownership in SBHH in 2022, Rachel oversaw the 2023 Final Four before helping launch Professional Sports Partners' live events division—PSP Events.

03Houston Astros & What's Next

Most recently, she served as Vice President of Special Events for the Houston Astros, leading event production and contributing to the planning and execution of MLB's 2026 World Baseball Classic. She also helped create several of the Astros' first self‑produced events, including the All Stars Car Show—the first car show ever held inside an MLB stadium—and Light Up the Park, the team's inaugural holiday lights experience.

04The Chapter After the Credits

Rachel has been married for 32 years to David, a labor and employment attorney in Houston, and is the proud mom of an incredible son who works in finance. Her life is anchored in relationships—friends gathered from every chapter, every city, and every adventure. Her happiest days are spent around a table in deep conversation with people she loves and food she's poured her heart into. She often says cooking is her therapy, and nothing brings her more joy than crafting an unforgettable meal for friends, family, and the strangers who inevitably become both.

Her current projects keep her rooted in two very different but equally meaningful worlds: the energy of various cities' sports and entertainment scenes and the quiet beauty of the Madison River Valley in Montana. In both spaces, no matter the work, her favorite part is always the people.

Across every chapter of her career, Rachel has been driven by a core belief: live events have the power to bring people together and transform spaces into lasting moments.
